Origins vs Odyssey Combat and Difficulty. Prior to the soft reboot of Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed had only contained a paired animation system for combat, creating stylish looking combat that was often based on parrying and combos. Origins became the first to create hitbox based combat and using a system similar to the
Valhalla. Odyssey was a mess and tried to be Witcher 3. It learned nothing from the mistakes of Origins. Valhalla looks better, runs smoother, ALLOWS YOU TO PLAY LIKE AN ASSASSIN and tries to merge the best of an open world with classic AC elements.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey appears to be less CPU-demanding than Assassin’s Creed Origins. The game comes with a built-in benchmark tool, providing a flythrough sequence of ancient Athens.

I liked Origins but have never had the urge to play it, whereas I've replayed 3 three or four times. I think Origins is better than AC3 remastered. Origins. Better story, better combat, better world, & better protagonist. The one thing AC3 does better is better antagonists with Haytham Kenway & Charles Lee.

Setting the character detail (not texture detail) to very low and a fps limit of 60 (not vsync) makes a difference but it still could be better. Same with me. Odyssey runs great on max settings, but Origins is a struggle to get consistent 60 fps @ 1440p, particularly in the cities.
Origins will be the closest. Odyssey was built upon Origins core mechanics. Black Flag is one of the best games in the series but it retains the classic gameplay of Assassin's Creed. If you're looking for RPG Witcher 3 like AC it's Origins and Odyssey. In your case I'd say to play Origins next.
IMO, the thing is, after Odyssey, you will not want to play Origins, because Odyssey has livelier combat, but it is more bloated with collect-a-ton activities. Though, has better side quests. 1st Origins, then Odyssey. It doesn't really matter, but Odyssey is far more superior tho.

Syndicate is the last "classic" Assassin's Creed with the IMO superior fighting system. Yes, it's just Arkham style combat but it looks more spectacular and I overall prefer it over the jank that is Origins (I assume that Odyssey isn't much better). That said, I am currently really enjoying Syndicate after not enjoying Unity at all.

But objectively Odyssey is better and I think it has better replay value then Valhalla plus I love the Greek mythology angle with the mini bosses you can hunt. The huntable minibosses in Valhalla fell short in comparison. It feels more like an Assassin's Creed game too, though not as much as Origins.
Currently level 20 so cant speak for all of oddysey. But so far black flag is immensely better in my opinion. This game doesnt even feel like an assassins creed game. Feels like I'm playing shadow of mordor but in Greece without orcs. true.
Origins is without a doubt better. The setting is amazing imho. The contrast between upper and lower Egypt, and the Greek and roman dominated Alexandria is really well done. I would say it is the best assassin creed regarding the coherancy and aesthetics of the setting. Also tour mode was perfect. Odyssey on the other hand, I could not stomach it.

The last creed game I played was the one in london, which was awesome. However, I want to get into one of the newest 2 games and was curious which one is better? (I am not invested in the story between the games) Should I skip this one and go the odyssey as I like the setting more.

Odyssey has dialogue options and improved combat and it would take you forever to finish it if you decide to do everything. depends on how many hours of gaming you can put, both are huge games but Odyssey is bigger. I would start with Origins only because it was released before, I played Origin and it is a great game.
I gotta say, I just think Origins looks better. I loaded Origins back up, went to a few spots all over the map and came away feeling that it has the edge graphically over Odyssey. I'm about 30 hours into Odyssey now and spent 90 hours on Origins, and immediately when I started Odyssey I felt it didn't look as good as I remembered Origins. Decided to see if I was just having some bias, (I do kewG3X0.
